Man it feels good to write again! The last month or so has been busy. How busy? Like, "barely have time to pursue any hobbies" busy. "Wake up, get coffee, and get a second cup sometime in the afternoon" busy. Maybe even "wear it as a corporate badge of honor like a dickhead "busy.

So I haven't really found the time to write anything here, but that doesn't mean I've got nothing to share. A few months back, one of my local community theaters put out a request for one-act plays for their summer festival. And I, filled with the unbridled and unearned confidence of all middle-aged white men, decided I'd give it a go! I wrote a one-off one-act called "Pep Talk" about a high school football team, the coach that thinks he's the next Knute Rockne, and a team that finds their inspiration ... to do literally anything besides play football.

In my head, I imagined writing a play so good that the theater staff, the actors, the audience, all of them would give me that classic Piano Man treatment of 'Man, what are you doing here?' I figured this was my gateway to working with Lin-Manuel Miranda on a fully-realized Broadway version.

They did not select my play for the festival.

Instead, I'll share it here for the general entertainment of the Ethereal Internet Masses. The show must go on!
